Mijn broer Gerard (61) en ik (65) zijn van plan om 7 weken door Schotland te fietsen en leggen daarbij ongeveer 2.600 km af. Ik ben getrouwd met een Schotse, en kom daar al 41 jaren. We vertrekken op 6 mei vanuit Noordwijkerhout via IJmuiden op de boot naar Newcastle en fietsen van Newcastle naar Gretna Green. Gretna Green of Annan zal de startplaats zijn van onze reis.
Gedurende deze fietstocht (niet elektrisch) door Schotland gaan we, groot liefhebbers van Schotse malt whisky, proberen om alle destilleerderijen in Schotland te bezoeken, om te beginnen bij de Annandale distillery en vervolgens de Bladnoch distillery en dan de eilanden, hooglanden, Speyside en de laaglanden.
Het doel van onze reis is, naast veel plezier, om zo veel mogelijke geld op te halen voor het KWF/KIKA. De slogan waaronder we zullen fietsen luidt: ”Scots Whisky for Cancer research goes Dutch”.

My brother Gerard (61) and I (65) are planning a cycle trip through Scotland lasting about 7 weeks and covering about 2600 kilometres. We are Dutch but I, being married to a Scots Lass, have come to Scotland for the past 41 years. We will travel by boat on 6th May from Ijmuiden to Newcastle and cycle from Newcastle to Gretna Green. Gretna Green or Annan will be the real start of our trip.
In the process of cycling (not electric) through Scotland we, great lovers of Scots malt whisky, are going to try to visit all distilleries in Scotland, to begin with the Annandale Distillery and Bladnoch Distillery and then the Isles, Highlands, Orkney’s, Speyside and Lowlands. etc. etc.
The objective of our trip is to collect as much money as possible to support Cancer Research UK. The slogan under which we will be cycling is “Scots Whisky for Cancer Research goes Dutch”.
